Nueces County Hospital District Family Health Center
Robstown, Texas

When the old Robstown Clinic became too small to serve their client base, the Nueces County Hospital District decided to build a new single story building in a rapidly growing area of town.  The new facility would also house the Nueces County Enrollment Aid Counselors offices as well as Health Education and Diabetes Education components.

A Spanish Colonial style was chosen to harmonize with the surrounding County buildings.  A large portico protects the drop off drive and highlights the tall octagonal entry lobby.  The Health Center, NCHD offices and Health Education share the main entry and public restrooms, while the Diabetes Education area has its own covered entrance.

The Health Center layout was organized to minimize footsteps and maximize functionality.  A large skylit nursing station is surrounded by nine exam rooms and three physician’s offices with lab, triage and support spaces nearby.  The staff/service entry is at the rear of the building for easy access.
