International Trade and Technology Building
The University of Texas Rio Grande

The International Trade and Technology Building was designed to house University programs to assist, promote and encourage local businesses in the international trade market.  It required the ability to host both large and small conferences and functions, resource materials, direct counseling services, special program requirements and administrative support offices.  Advanced telecommunications were incorporated into the building to provide maximum flexibility of operation.  Conference facilities are designed for multiple layouts, acoustical conditions and lighting conditions. The inner workings of the telecommunications equipment are showcased in a “show and tell” environment allowing users to “see the technology”.

Solka Nava Torno, LLC worked closely with the Wilhelmi|Reuter Studio for the design and installation of the mosaic floor tile logo in the main entrance to the building.  The design won an Artisan/Craftsman Award from the American Institute of Architects - Corpus Christi Chapter.
